Hormone Dysregulation:
Recalibrating your health
When hormones get out of whack, your entire system can quickly spiral out of control. Traditional medical providers often prescribe a pill for the problem, and another prescription when that one doesn’t work. This methodology puts you at risk of developing more serious and avoidable conditions.
If you're looking for answers to your changing health and hormones, you've found the place for fixing things once and for all.

Hormone Dysregulation
Definition:
A hormone imbalance is a general term that can involve any of 50+ hormones in the human body when those hormones are too low or too high in measured levels due to a multitude of factors, diseases or conditions.
Causes:
The endocrine system is a tightly regulated network of nearly a dozen main organs that keep hormones and their effects at just the right level. Because the release of a hormone from one organ often affects other organs, the regulation of hormones is typically intricately linked to the feedback loop of other hormones, proteins or neuronal signals.
Concerns:
Your hormones regulate many body processes including metabolism, appetite, sleep cycles, growth and development, reproductive cycles and sexual function, body temperature and mood. Too much or too little of one hormone can lead to a cascade of issues with other hormones and throw your body into varying stages of malfunction or chaos.
Western Medicine Disconnections:
Because Western medicine loves to treat symptoms and not root cause issues, hormone conditions under traditional care often become long and impossible “chasing the tail” episodes that last years. The uncertain and impulsive nature of traditional care often leads to additional medical consequences that could have been avoided had the provider treated the hormone imbalance as a holistic condition.
Dr. Hart and Dr. Aoki have changed my life. Through personalized plans incorporating nutrition, emotional work, detox protocols, along with other therapies, they've helped me achieve a level of health and vitality I never thought possible. Their compassionate care and holistic approach have empowered me to take control of my health. I'm incredibly grateful for their expertise and guidance.

The Great Unknowns of Hormones
The first and often only idea the general public has about hormonal imbalance or hormonal dysregulation is that relating to women’s health, perimenopause and menopause. And while those are certainly key areas of impact, hormonal imbalance can cause all sorts of problems as a naturally occurring condition in both women and men, alike.
• Unexpected weight gain
• Regularly feeling tired and run down
• Loss of concentration and clarity of thought
• Dry skin
• Weak or brittle bones
• Moodiness and irritability
• Loss of vigor, vaginal dryness or atrophy
• Hot flashes and night sweats
•Irregular periods or no periods (amenorrhea)
• Slow growth and development
• Infertility
Consider the endocrine system as a series of levers that regulates how much of each hormone is released. When one lever is pulled, another lever needs an adjustment or things get imbalanced pretty quick.

More About Your Endocrine System
The Pituitary gland is the master cylinder of your glands. From its location at the front of the brain, it oversees all other glands to keep your hormone levels steady. The hormones released by the pituitary gland are gonadotropins (LH and FSH), growth hormone (GH), thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), prolactin, antidiuretic hormone/vasopressin (ADH) and oxytocin.
In addition to the Pituitary, you have numerous other organs that produce or regulate their own hormones. When something is awry with one of these, all kinds of chaos can happen to other organs, glands and hormones. Other endocrine system components include:
Adrenal glands – adrenal glands sit on top of each kidney and make cortisol, aldosterone and sex hormones, as well as adrenaline.
Ovaries – inside the female pelvis, these make female sex hormones like estrogen, progesterone and testosterone.
Pancreas – an organ of digestion which is inside the abdomen. It makes both insulin and glucagon, and these hormones control the amount of sugar in the bloodstream, as well as somatostatin.
Parathyroid gland – usually four of these along the thyroid gland, the parathyroid regulates calcium, phosphate and vitamin D.
Testes – these make male sex hormones like testosterone and stimulate production of sperm.
Thyroid gland – sitting in the neck at the front of the windpipe, this releases thyroid hormones which are required for metabolism, reproductive health, mood, cognition, cardiovascular function, and body homeostasis.
Other lesser known endocrine organs include:
Adipose tissue (fat tissue) – releases hormones which affect appetite, metabolism, inflammation, and insulin sensitivity.
The Gut and its Bacteria – as more is learned about gut health in recent decades, it’s clear that metabolism and appetite are impacted by hormones produced not just by the intestines but also by the microbiome.
Kidneys – produce a variety of hormones that do everything from stimulate red blood cell production, regulate blood pressure and produce the active form of Vitamin D.
Liver, Stomach and Gallbladder – These organs produce hormones that regulate growth and development, blood sugar regulation, blood pressure, immune health, digestion, and metabolism.
